Kamanzi, a book by young Burundian author Divin Ishimwe

Alex Kamanzi is a 15-year-old teenager from a diplomatic family. He is the only son of Olivier and Elisabeth Kamanzi. Appointed ambassador to Mogadishu, Olivier and his family are forced to leave New York for Somalia. Their son's life is turned upside down when both parents and the staff at the diplomat's residence are killed in an attack by the CNR, a Somali terrorist group.

Surviving the attack, Alex finds himself in the hands of the CNR, which forces him to join the terrorist camp where he makes 3 new friends including Amanda Davis, Elsa Shabani and Jack Jones. Life at the camp is turned upside down when American drones sent by the International Congress find Alex thanks to the medallion Olivier had given him.

Together, guided by the teenager, the four young people are forced to fight for their rights, above all the right to life, as well as those of others in the same camp.
Between pain and despair, they'll have to be strong and courageous.
